Medical technology is the driver of the Berlin health sector, which is one of the most promising industries in the German capital. TSB Medici has developed the Master Plan Medical Technology together with its partners in science and industry promotion. Our aim is to support the continued development of segments of the medical technology industry that are already well positioned, such as imaging, oncology, cardiovascular diseases, telemedicine and medical computer science, and define interfaces between them. The Master Plan Medical Technology was expanded in 2006 and approved by the Economics Ministry of the State of Brandenburg and the planning agency Zukunftsagentur Brandenburg. It is now binding for both Berlin and Brandenburg. The goals of the region Berlin-Brandenburg in the field of medical technology have now been formalized by the “Master Plan for the Development of Berlin-Brandenburg into a Competence Center for Medical Technology“.

These goals are:

• To improve the international competitiveness of the medical technology facilities in science and industry in Berlin-Brandenburg;
• To maintain and create qualified and innovative employment in the sector; and
• To market the region as an attractive medical technology location.

In these efforts, TSB Medici has the following tasks:

• Competence field management for Berlin-Brandenburg;
• Building networks between research and teaching, clinical practice and production;
• Dialog forum for science and business;
• Promotion of technology transfer between science and industry;
• Consulting for innovative companies and portfolio development;
• Supporting the founding of innovative companies;
• Presentation of Berlin-Brandenburg medical technology outside the region; and
• Expanding the region’s export activities.
