For Berlin-Brandenburg, medical technology is a field with tremendous future potential. More than 3,000 generally highly qualified jobs were created during the past five years. Several factors explain this rapid growth. In Berlin, the sector is currently growing above-average and hence faster than in Germany as a whole.
The cycles of technical innovation keep accelerating, while demographic trends create growing demand. In addition, cooperation between all key actors in the sector in Berlin-Brandenburg is excellent. There is a dense network of companies, medical facilities and research institutes, which fosters close integration between research and its practical application. This dynamic environment and the good networks between the different technology segments create optimal conditions for initiating important developments in the region, even beyond the field of medicine.
The state governments of Berlin and Brandenburg are supporting networks and important cooperation projects to further improve the quality of medical technology in the region, because the sector is a key pillar of the emerging Life Science Cluster Berlin-Brandenburg.

The following companies are working together in the project "Open MRT", coordinated by TSB Medici and supported by Zukunftsfonds Berlin: Bayer Schering Pharma AG, InnoRa GmbH, MGB GmbH, Philips Medizin Systeme GmbH, SOMATEX® Medical Technologies GmbH, W.O.M. AG. Zukunftsfonds Berlin supports innovation projects that are of strategic importance to Berlin and meet the highest scientific standards.
