Among physicians, researchers and industry- representatives, „Molecular Imaging“ is considered as being a future core- field of modern medicine, which affects central medical topics like cardio- vascular diseases, oncology, neurology and gastro- intestinal diseases to a great extent. It enables the imaging and quantification of molecular changes which are related to the development of diseases prior to the manifestation of initial morphological changes.

Berlin holds all qualifications, in many respects, for a leadership role in Germany regarding the future field Molecular Imaging. The instrumen- tation, the scientific excellence as well as the cooperative projects of industry and science are the basis of the prominent representation of the Molecular Imaging value chain shown by the innovators in Berlin.

The Imaging Network Berlin (INB) therefore aims at supporting the consolidation and the coordination of the widespread regional activities concerning Molecular Imaging and at closing possible gaps within the value- added process.
